In a time when politics is too often driven by ambition rather than conviction, Representative Jeff Burkhart stood apart as a man of deep principle, quiet humility, and unwavering patriotism. The 917 Society mourns the passing of this true statesman, who was not only a cherished Founders Club Member and 2023 Legislator of the Year, but also a devoted friend, servant leader, and champion of the Constitution.
Every year, Jeff Burkhart faithfully delivered pocket Constitutions to the 8th grade students in his district. He did not do this for photo opportunities or political gain—he did it because he believed in the mission. He believed in equipping the next generation with knowledge of their God-given rights and the founding principles that make America exceptional. That is the heart of a patriot.
In an age of political grandstanding, Jeff embodied something rare: servant leadership. He wasn’t just present during election cycles—he was a constant, steady force for good in his community. Whether it was delivering Constitutions, listening to constituents, or showing up when others would not, Jeff was there. He wrapped his concrete truck with our logo when he heard we were being censored on social media. He let us borrow an empty building he owned for our Constitution Distribution when he knew we needed a warehouse. He gave his time and energy not for recognition, but because it was the right thing to do.
The 917 Society was honored to name Representative Burkhart our 2023 Legislator of the Year—a title he wore with characteristic humility. His passion for civic education, constitutional literacy, and empowering young Americans is a legacy we will proudly carry forward in his name.
Today, we extend our heartfelt prayers and condolences to his fiancee' Cindy, his daughter and family, and to the many who called him friend. We will miss his smile, his strength, and his sincere love for this nation. But even in mourning, we are grateful—grateful to have known him, to have worked beside him, and to continue with our mission he held dear.
Jeff Burkhart’s life reminds us that real leadership isn’t loud—it’s faithful, principled, and consistent. He served because he believed in the promise of America. And in doing so, he became part of the very legacy he worked to preserve.
