Washington's Prayer Walk: Rededication in the Heart of New York City

On April 30, 2026 — the 237th anniversary of George Washington's first inauguration — The 917 Society gathered at St. Paul's Chapel in Lower Manhattan to retrace one of the most sacred steps in American history. Washington's Prayer Walk: Rededicate America 250 to God brought together patriots, educators, and civic leaders from across the country to walk in the footsteps of our first president — from Federal Hall to St. Paul's Chapel, the very place where Washington knelt in prayer after taking the oath of office in 1789. A NATION PAUSED TO PRAY Among the gathering were supporters who traveled from Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, and beyond — united by one mission: to call America back to the faith and values that shaped the founding generation. Rodgar McCalmon, portraying George Washington, led the walk in period-accurate dress — pausing at St. Paul's Chapel to kneel in reverent prayer before the monument that stands as a testament to America's Christian heritage. The Tennessee delegation proudly flew the state flag in the streets of New York City — a reminder that the spirit of the founding is alive in every corner of this nation. AMERICA 250 BEGINS HERE As we approach America's 250th birthday in 2026, The 917 Society believes constitutional literacy and civic faith go hand in hand. Every 8th grader in America deserves to hold a copy of the Constitution — not just as a document, but as a covenant.
