America 250 - 1776-2026

Most Americans have never heard his name…

Roger Sherman is the only Founder to sign all four of these documents:

• The Continental Association (1774)

• The Declaration of Independence (1776)

• The Articles of Confederation (1781)

• The U.S. Constitution (1787)

That’s right — all four.

And during the Constitutional Convention, Sherman helped craft what we now call the Great Compromise” — creating our two-chamber Congress:

  1.  The House (representation by population)

  2.  The Senate (equal representation for each state)

Without that compromise, the Constitution may never have been adopted.

Sherman never attended college.

He was a self-educated lawyer and shoemaker who rose through discipline, study, and faith.

He once said: “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”

As we approach America’s 250th Anniversary, we remember the steady, practical leaders — not just the famous names — who shaped our Republic.
