Cathy Kolb has devoted 30+ years as a special educator in KY, TN, OK, and Germany in elementary, middle, and high school settings as well as a part of the adjunct faculty at Austin Peay State University. She received her B.S. in Special Education and Psychology at Western Kentucky University and completed her M.A. and Ed.S at Austin Peay State University. 


Cathy received the “Special Educator of the Year Award in 1990-91 while teaching in Lawton, Oklahoma (Ft. Sill). She was twice selected as Teacher of the Year Representative at the building level in Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS). She was selected as Teacher of the Year District Level in in 2014. 


She is the state president of Professional Educators of Tennessee and is also the local president in CMCSS. Cathy received “Advocate of the Year” award from Professional Educators of Tennessee (PET). PET was instrumental in crafting the Say Dyslexia Bill as well as the Teacher Bill of Rights along with Senator Mark Green and Representative Jay Reedy as sponsors of these bills. 


She has served on the State Assessment Task Force and again on the Task Force 2.0. She was a member of the State Standards Recommendation Committee in 2015-2016. 


Cathy serves as the lead teacher for the special ed. department at Moore Magnet STEM Elementary School in Clarksville and lives out her passion of teaching students how to read and LOVE history!
