Corinthia Peterson Elder was born in the Caribbean Island of Dominica but later grew up on nearby Dutch St. Maarten. She graduated St. Maarten Academy in 1987 and attended Pensacola Christian College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1991. 


She married Lee Elder and moved to Clarksville in 1992. The couple has three children, Sharina, Silas and Savannah. She became a naturalized citizen in 1999 while her husband Lee was deployed to Bosnia. 


Ms. Elder worked in the Montgomery County’s Trustee’s Office for 24 years, and served as chief deputy trustee for 12 years. She was the Republican nominee for the office in 2018. 


The Elder family are active members of Hilldale Baptist Church where she has served as Sunday School teacher, church choir and praise team member. She serves as a board member at Clarksville Academy. She is a member of several clubs and is currently the women’s co-chair of the Montgomery County Republican Party. 


Ms. Elder joined the 917 Society in 2017, and has enjoyed helping young people learn about the U.S. Constitution and appreciate their American heritage.
