"America’s Founding Fathers sent a message to the students of Fox Creek Middle School: a reminder that The Constitution protects the rights of the people from government overreach. Post 30 members handed out 165 pocket-sized U.S. Constitution to 8th-graders at Fox Creek Middle School on September 18, 2026. Their teacher, Kathleen Rogerson, started off the day with a Constitution trivia scavenger hunt. After Post 30 members talked about the Constitution, we tested them with a fun Constitution "pop quiz" during which tables of students recorded their answers on dry erase boards and held them overhead.
A big thank you to Fox Creek Middle School for having us and to The 917 Society - Non-Profit for providing the pocket Constitutions. Photos by Diane Peterson."
"Post 30 spotlighted the U.S. Constitution at Merriwether Middle School on Monday, September 21, 2026, as part of the American Legion’s commitment to patriotism and community service. Fifty-two eighth graders assembled in the gym, where Post 30 members distributed pocket Constitutions provided by The 917 Society - Non-Profit. We spent a few minutes talking about this magnificent document, then gave students a chance to ask questions before we posed a few of our own.
Thanks to Principal Sara-Beth Brown for coordinating the visit and welcoming us to Merriwether Middle School. Photos by Diane Peterson."
