Lindsay Pacheco, an 8th grade Civics teacher for Princess Anne Middle School in Virginia Beach delivered pocket Constitutions to 440 8th grade students on September 24 and 25 during their Constitution Unit.
Lindsay shares, “We had a blast! This is something I usually do solo - but you all offered for the whole grade level!!!!! It was so much fun to get the whole Civics team on board. So, thank YOU for this opportunity. I am sorry we forgot to take pics though!!! Ahhhhhh. The best part was seeing students' reactions when they received their pocket Constitutions, but even more rewarding was watching them pull them out on their own during assignments and classroom discussions. In a world where students are so accustomed to screens, games, and digital activities, it was refreshing to see them genuinely interested in something as simple as a pocket Constitution. As a Civics teacher, those are the moments that mean the most to me. It is one thing to teach students about the Constitution, but seeing them take the initiative to explore and use it on their own reminds me why I love teaching this subject. Thank you for offering this opportunity for them.”
