This Constitution Day was an absolute triumph, thanks to the incredible efforts of Carol Milder and her Team!

Teaming up with the Republican Party, DAR, and VFW, they passionately distributed 533 pocket Constitutions to schools at Buffalo ISD, Centerville ISD, Normangee ISD, Oakwood ISD, and Leon ISD, all located in Leon County, Texas.

The team ignited a spark of curiosity and respect for our nation's founding principles with inspiring stories from history, making the day not just educational but truly unforgettable. Through engaging activities, her team helped the students  understand the importance of our Constitution in today's world.

Carol's Story:

We offered a 20 minute and a 40 minute scripted program.

Some of us wore period costumes, the DAR ladies had the students ring  Liberty handbells, we had multiple skits, interactive trivia and a  cheer “Who protects Liberty?” Reply “We Do!” “What protects  our rights?” Reply “The Constitution!!!” This was a big hit and was LOUD!

We sang the National Anthem, God Bless America and My  Country Tis of Thee”.

At the end the students said this oath “I do  solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully and to the best of  my Ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the  United States, so help me God”.

On 9/17 we were given assemblies, Centerville was in the cafeteria, Oakwood and Buffalo were in the auditoriums.  Each school included multiple grades of students. Thankfully we  had additional Pocket Constitutions.

On 9/18, in Normangee ISD,  we were given 7 full classrooms periods with 40 minute to give the presentation.  It was fun, upbeat, interactive, the students, the teachers and the administrators were extremely complimentary. The students loved the program and even wanted us to autograph their pocket  constitutions.

Thank you 9/17 Society!!!

The local DAR ladies have been going into our schools for the past 6 years, as the Republican  County Chair, we partnered with them and our VFW. We worked together to make Constitution Week a memorable event and their  personal Pocket Constitutions something that is important and a treasure.

Note: the DAR ladies were doing the head counting, I am using  their numbers. There were additional pocket constitutions handed out at local churches and a private Christian school.

The actual total this week per the DAR leader is 672 Pocket Constitutions  handed out in Leon County Texas. Our county population is about 17000 with 5 public school districts.
