Debbie Carroll 8th Grade American Republic Class History Teacher

We are Lakeview Christian School in Lake Placid, FL I am the History teacher for the Middle School.

My 8th graders focus on American History.  Our class received information about the opportunity to participate in "Constitution Day" and when asked if they would like to participate they embraced the opportunity. 

The students gathered art supplies from various areas of the school ( we are Pre K to 8th grade ) and created a banner. I have some STEM "toys' in my classroom that the students create things with when they have completed their work and the classroom is in need of quiet time. 

Creativity abounds and one of the girls made a pair of glasses and said that she could now "Focus on the Constitution and "see" what it is all about"!! Caused some laughter;however that is what inspired them to wear "glasses". That is our story. 

This was 100% designed and created by 8th grade. They painted it during their study hall periods. If it were to have a title, it would be "Focusing on Freedom" or Future.

The students LOVE the pocket booklets that were provided to our school for them. The timing of this opportunity coincided with our book! The students are currently on the constitution!
