Conroe ISD--Moorhead JHS

TX

The class pic is from my room Conroe ISD, students were getting an introduction to the Constitution. The other pic is from a boy scout troop in Montgomery county where we did a presentation over the importance of citizen rights.

On Constitution Day, the students were excited to get their own copies of the Constitution, and they were told that it is their Bible in our classrooms. We then watched a live presentation from Constituting America, another website affiliate from Washington, DC via Zoom. The students watched a presentation by "James Madison" on the Constitutional Convention, a panel consisting of Q&A conducted by students on various constitutional issues like judicial review, checks and balances, separation of powers, First Amendment, etc., a rap song on the individual rights, etc. The students were enthralled by the presentation, and it inspired them to want to be part of the program next year.

We concluded by reflecting on the importance of September 17 and why we should care about constitutional principles. Answers varied from "government is based on the consent of the governed", "the people are the basis of government authority", "it protects us from governmental abuses", the right to worship and speak our minds, etc. Our school is located in 13715 Grangerland Rd., Conroe, TX 77306.
